ZACH WILSON INJURY

Writer's picture: Faze ReportFaze Report

The NY Jets and their fans immediately feared the worst when quarterback Zach Wilson left Friday's preseason game early with a non-contact knee injury.

Those fears were furthered when the early reports indicated that Wilson may have in fact suffered a torn ACL. Renowned football doctor David J. Chao was among those who believed Wilson had torn his ACL based on video evidence.

However, there's optimism now that the Jets avoided a worst-case scenario with their young QB. Head coach Robert Saleh indicated Friday night that Wilson's ACL was expected to be completely intact prompting a sigh of relief from Jets faithful.

SNY's Connor Hughes later confirmed a report that Wilson appears to have reinjured his PCL, an injury that could sideline him anywhere from 2-6 weeks. That's notably the same injury (and the same knee) that Wilson sustained last season.

The Jets are still awaiting the official MRI confirmation which should come in on Saturday, but for now, there's a sense of optimism surrounding those at Florham Park at the moment.

Fantasy Impact: This injury may keep Wilson out the first two games of the season and possibly more. That means Joe Flacco would start the season as the jets QB1. This could have an effect on Elijah Moore and the Jets receiving corps to start the season.
