I remember growing up as a young man in California watching the Pittsburgh Steelers win 4 super bowls. They destroyed my Minnesota Vikings and went on to win 3 more Super Bowls after that. They had stars bigger than life like Terry Bradshaw , Franco Harris, Rocky Blier, Mel Blount, Mean Joe Greene, Matt Blair, Jack Lambert, and I haven't even mentioned Lynn Swan or John Stallworth yet. It's been a while since the Steeler fans have had something to be excited about but let me tell you... the Pittsburgh Steeler fans must be beside themselves these days. They have two of the brightest up-and-coming young stars in the game on their team. It took a while for Pat Freiermuth to start playing at the level that was expected of him when he was drafted in the 2nd round in the 2021 draft, but he is really beginning to show why they drafted him so early. Over his past 3 games he has 16 receptions on 20 targets 145 yds 3 touchdowns and is averaging 16.16 fantasy points per game. He's really becoming comfortable in the Pittsburgh Steelers system and it looks like down the stretch he is going to be a dominant force to deal with. As we watch him evolve we can see a direct impact on Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben has looked much better over the past 3 games. About a month ago everyone including myself was saying that Ben was washed up... well it looks like he has found a resurgence and if he continues to play this way the Steelers are truly Super Bowl contenders.
I haven't even mentioned Najee Harris yet!! Harris was the Steelers 1st round pick and he came in highly regarded as a plug him in right now running back...well he has not disappointed. Harris has 150 carries 541 yds he's averaging 3.6 yds per carry with 4 touchdowns 40 receptions 289 yds receiving and 2 receiving TDs. He has already scored 159 fantasy points and he is currently ranked as running back 4 by ESPN and NFL fantasy football.
After a slow start Najee has really settled in and become the lead back that he was drafted to be. If he keeps up this pace the Steelers will be very difficult to deal with in the 2nd half of the season and one of the top contenders to reach the Super Bowl. It's been a while since the Steelers have had a team with this much talent on it on both sides of the ball. The Steelers defense Is looking better every week. These young guns Najee Harris and Pat Freiermuth are poised to lead the Steelers deep into the playoffs if they stay healthy. It's been a few seasons since the Steeler Fans have had something to truly be excited about. Believe me, they should be excited because these 2 rookies are special.
