WEEK 9 WAIVER WIRE!

OK after a crazy week 8 in the NFL I have 4 of my top waiver wire targets plus a couple of extra guys to be on the lookout for so let's get right into it.

Tight End

1. Pat Freiermuth

If you're in need of a TE1 Freiermuth is the number one up-and-coming TE1 in the league. He's only rostered in 18% of ESPN rosters and 8% of nfl.com fantasy football. He's averaging 7.7 Fantasy points in PPR leagues....but the last two games without JuJu Smith-Schuster he's averaging 10.5 Fantasy points with 5.5 targets per game. He was highly drafted and it looks like he's finally figuring out his spot in this offense. He and Big Ben have good chemistry and I believe he's the next big TE1 in the league. I've rostered him in my year long leagues and have no hesitation on playing him. TE is a tough position so go get him now!!

Dan Arnold

If TE is your need Arnold is another very serviceable TE over the past 3 games he's averaged 5.3 targets per game, and 9.96 Fantasy points in PPR formats. He's only rostered in 8.8% of ESPN rosters and in 3.7% of NFL. com's rosters. He and Trevor Lawrence have been on the same page lately and it seems that Urban Meyer is utilizing his tight end a little more. So if you're in need of a tight end here is another good option.

Running Back

2. Adrian Peterson

Everyone is saying Adrian Peterson is the number one waiver wire target because of obvious reasons. Losing Derrick Henry is a massive blow to fantasy owners and he's actually unreplaceable (is that even a word?). But Adrian Peterson is a Hall of Fame running back that still has some left in the tank. He hasn't played all season so he should be fresh... he keeps himself in excellent shape, so the only question here is how the Titans plan to use him. There's no doubt in my mind that he can be serviceable and average 10 to 15 points per game and on the occasion have a 20 plus point game in him. There's not really much out there at the running back position because of all the injuries this season so if Adrian Peterson is available I'd snatch him up quickly...you can put him on your bench and let a couple of weeks go by and see how it goes.

Jeremy McNichols

McNichols is the backup for Derrick Henry he has very limited experience this season only 7 carries 38 yds 21 receptions 203 yds receiving and a touchdown. Not much to go on but we do know that he knows the Titan's system he's been there all season long and he's worked under the best running back in football. Jeremy McNichols maybe is the number one sought after target for week 9.

Jordan Howard

Howard is another guy that I have to mention although I'm not too excited about him because the Philadelphia Eagles offense is kind of bad and they use their running backs so mysteriously....you never know which guy is going to be the guy to have a decent game. But Howard came off of the couch and had 12 carries for 57 yds 2 touchdowns and got 17 fantasy points in PPR formats. So that can't be ignored. I'm not sure how they're gonna use him moving forward be because they have 3 guys... Gainwell, Scott and Howard that are all going be stealing touches from each other. But if you need a running back there's another option

D'Ernest Johnson

It may be a little late for this guy because he's rostered in over 50% of ESPN and 34% of NFL. com's roster. But if he's available he's definitely worth a pick up until Kareem Hunt gets back. He had another touchdown Sunday and this guy's just all around good player.

Quarterback

3. Mike White

OK I know this time of year almost everyone has their quarterback and he is dialed in but if you are on a buy week and your quarterback is sitting or recently got injured or his name is Aaron Rodgers and is on the Covid list, Mike White is not a bad look. Over the past 2 games he is averaging 17.1 fantasy points per game in PPR formats but the game that he started he went 37/45/405 with 3 touchdowns he did have 2 pics but he got 26 fantasy points and he and Michael Carter have great chemistry. Until the Jets get Zack Wilson back Mike White is a very serviceable option on a buy week. He plays Thursday night so let's see how he does.

Taysom Hill

For years now Hill has been the Swiss army knife in the New Orleans Saints offense he plays quarterback, he plays tight end, he plays running back, he plays receiver...you get the point. But now he has an opportunity to be the starting quarterback for the Saints because Jameis Winston was lost with a season ending knee injury. Hill has not always done great in this situation but given the circumstances if you need someone in a pinch to fill in on a buy week you may want to take a look Hill.

Wide receiver

4. Russell Gage

Gage has been battling with a lingering injury all season long he finally gets into a game a couple of weeks ago and this past week we got the news that Calvin Ridley has taken some time away from football for personal reasons. Gage should greatly benefit from Ridley's absence but in the 2nd game back he was not targeted once. That's a little concerning for me but I still think Gage is the number one WR in Atlanta until Ridley gets back.

Tajae Sharp has emerged and is getting a lot more looks but I think Gage will be the guy to own down the road. Sharpe is also available in all leagues right now. With the emergence of Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson, Matt Ryan has a few targets to get the ball to but he will definitely need a WR1 and I would bet it would be Russell Gage.

Dante Pettis, was injured in the 1st half of the Giants game Monday night but he's a guy you may want to keep your eye on, he had put together back-to-back strong outings and let's face it the New York Giants have no one to throw the ball to right now because all their top receivers are hurt.

Hopefully this helps you out and gives you a little direction going into week 9 but act fast because these players don't last long.

Good luck out there!
