How I flipped Antonio Brown for Alvin Kamara!

“Combine his talent with Tom Brady and the way the New England Patriots run their offense it was going to be a no-brainer, this was a home run… “

Antonio Brown has been one of the most coveted wide receivers in fantasy football for the past 5 years. If you were lucky enough to draft him or trade for him your team instantly becomes a contender. During the final weeks of the 2018 season Brown began to have a falling out with his former team the Pittsburgh Steelers and his former quarterback Ben Rothlisberger which eventually led to his trade to the Oakland Raiders.

We all know the story from there, Brown got frostbite in his foot in France he had a legal dispute over an outdated helmet with the league and he allegedly tried to assault his general manager in Oakland. If that wasn’t enough, rumors began to circulate about sexual assault allegations against the former all pro. Things got so hot and so bad for Brown that the Oakland Raiders cut him voiding a 30 million dollar guaranteed contract. While all this was going on fantasy football drafts were taking place all cross the nation and Antonio Brown’s stock had dropped dramatically, so as a “shrewd GM” I picked him up in the 6th round. Just before week one Brown was signed by the New England Patriots and Tom Brady had a brand new shiny toy to play with. The fantasy football world went crazy Tom Brady and Antonio Brown together, that would be like Randy Moss and Tom Brady back in 2007!

In week 2 against the Miami Dolphins Tom Brady targeted Brown 8 times and they connected for a touchdown. That was it… fantasy football trade offers began to flood in from all over. There was a very small window that we all had in order to make a move on Antonio Brown. You see, there’s one thing about the New England Patriots and about Antonio Brown that you needed to know before you decided whether you were going to trade for him or trade him away. But 1st things 1st… Antonio Brown is absolutely one of the best if not the best wide receiver in all of the NFL and when he’s playing at his peak and focusing on football there is no better fantasy football player out there. Combine his talent with Tom Brady and the way the New England Patriots run their offense it was going to be a no-brainer this was a home run… Brown would lead the fantasy world in points Tom Brady would become a top 10 quarterback again and the New England Patriots would win the Super Bowl hands down… But wait a sec, remember I said there are 2 things you need to know about the Patriots and A.B. before you trade for him or trade him away. First: the New England Patriots hate drama and second: Antonio Brown loves drama… hence the dilemma… Do I trade Brown and possibly trade away the best wide receiver in the game or do I understand who Antonio Brown is and who the New England Patriots are?

So I chose to accept an offer for Brown that would give me strength, stability and consistency throughout the season… I traded Antonio Brown and Nick Chubb for Alvin Kamara and Amari Cooper…😁 The trade was accepted on Tuesday it completed on Thursday and Antonio Brown was released from the Patriots on Friday… YIKES! The problem with fantasy football and fantasy football players is that too often we draft and trade by the heart or by the name of the player…we need to stop and take a moment to examine everything that’s involved in a trade offer.

Example: If someone is offering you Terry Mclaurin for a player like Mike Evans… this season that might not be a bad trade if you look at what Jamis Winston and Chris Godwin have going on in Tampa Bay and you see what Mclaurin is capable of, if the quarterback play in Washington improves even a little bit. I’m not saying to make that trade I’m just saying that sometimes you can’t look at the big name and the little name and instantly be closed minded to it, you need to examine all the facts. In this particular case I knew that there is no way Antonio Brown would get through an entire season because of all his off the field drama, that’s why it was so easy for me to flip Antonio Brown for Alvin Kamara…I’m currently 5-0 in my league And in week 3 Kamara and Cooper combined for 63 points for me… now that’s a deal!

Closing note: Always be willing to listen to every trade offer and do your research, check the numbers check the remainder of the schedule for each player check how the offense is running how the team is coached… all these things factor in to fantasy football success and failures. Now go out there and make a deal that could turn your fantasy football season around be bold be diligent be ready!
